Nobody's Perfect (Originally posted December 10, 2015)

I was a silly little tween when Disney Channel was in it's prime with shows like That's So Raven, Lizzie McGuire, So Weird, Jett Jackson, Suite Life of Zack and Cody and of course Hannah Montana.

We all know that Hannah Montana launched Miley Cyrus' career. We all also know that Miley Cyrus has lost her gosh darn mind since.

When she first started, people were iffy about her voice. If you have fallen into the deep pits and black holes of YouTube, you may have stumbled across two of her covers that are in my opinion, unreal. She covered You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go by Bob Dylan and also Jolene by Dolly Parton.

These covers are fantastic. Go listen to these before you continue reading (you can find them below).

Anyways. These covers show her range and her talent. Her vibrato is perfection. I was one of the people who wasn't sure if she was actually talented until I heard these covers.<br />

Then she goes and disappoints me by releasing her album "Bangerz" (with the exceptions of Adore You and Wrecking Ball because lets face it who doesn't like Wrecking Ball...). It literally baffles me how someone who has a voice like hers can release such awful music. She also released a song called "23" which shouldn't even be considered as a song. The chorus is

"I 'm in the club high off purp with some shades on

Tatted up, mini skirt with my J's on

J's on my feet

J's on my feet

J's on my feet

So get like me"

Let those deep, inspirational, relatable lyrics sink in for a moment. Oh, wait.

The confusion and disbelief have come around again. I just listened to her perform Silent Night; from A Very Murray Christmas and it gave me goosebumps. But again it begs the question, how can someone with such a talent release such awful music? I'm definitely in full support of doing whatever makes you happy and "yolo" and whatnot but someone has to stand up and be like, "Hey Miley, your music is kind of awful nowadays. Put the joint down, stop talking to your dead pets, and write something like Wrecking Ball again. Kay thanks."

But as always, its just my opinion no one asked for. Miley and I have one of those love hate relationships. I mean I went to see her back in 2009 when she decided to pole dance on a rope that dangled from the rafters while she sang Party in the USA and i remember thinking "oh wow she's really hit bottom." Little fourteen year old me had no idea what she would become.

I basically just miss the days when her biggest scandal was that she was wearing short shorts or pole dancing on an ice cream stand or when that video of her smoking salvia went viral. I miss the Miley in the first two videos. I miss the Miley that was in love with Nick Jonas. Take me back to the good ole days.

2023:

Wow this didn't really age well, did it?

Also find it wild that this is scheduled to post on her birthday...

I'm a Miley fan, but as you just read, I was a fair weather fan for a while, but personally I think that's okay. Now im all to being a fan of hers because we both have grown up. We both are totally different people than we were in 2015 and Miley's recent single "Used to Be Young" is a testament to this whole idea.

Im really digging her new sound because it sounds really authentic to her. Her most recent album, Endless Summer Vacation sounds exactly how she should sound if that makes sense. Her voice sounds perfect on every song, and her overall sound just seems so true to Miley. There isn't a single song that I am not a fan of. The way its written, the mix, all of it is just a chefs kiss.

I still stand firm that the "Bangerz" and "Miley Cyrus & her Dead Pets" eras of Miley were the worst and mostly refuse to listen to anything off those albums.
